Maine Forest Rally 2006! [Pics]

July 23rd, 2006 by Ray in Auto Events | Tags: , , | Comments Off

Maine Forest Rally 2006!Ended up making it there for day 3. Wanted to see both stages but the first stage of the day was cut short for spectators. This is because part of the public road was shutdown for the rally, but the town wanted to open it back up early – the town won that battle! However, that stage continued on but the finish line was pushed up 1/16(ish) of a mile where spectators were not allowed to go…bah!

Stage 2 took place in Errol, NH. Part of the stage was rerouted due to keep landowners happy. This did not make a difference on spectator’s view though. This stage was run up and then down, most of the pictures I grabbed are from the start line. I missed about 5 cars as my card in my camera could not hold all the pictures – I was periodically copying the pictures to my laptop to free up space.

Without further ado, here they are: http://gallery.white-box.us/main.php?g2_itemId=375

Auto-X: 8 Rod Ruckus [Results]

November 23rd, 2005 by Ray in Auto Events | Tags: , , | Comments Off

Yup…the results have been for out for a bit now, I just haven’t had the time to post them up. So I don’t remember what my # was on my car…(I’m not a club member so I don’t have my own number). I either was 108 or 406…so that means I either came in 5th or 6th place out of 8 in the STS class. Overall that means I was in either 26th or 38th out of 59 entries. Damnit I wish I knew my number. I *think* I was 108, but I am not sure…results can be found here.

Auto-X: Day at the Dealership [Results]

August 25th, 2005 by Ray in Auto Events | Tags: , | Comments Off

So, the results from the last event have *finally* been posted. I was bumped from HS to STS class because I have a short throw shifter now (woo Steeda). It was a small crowd, and a small course, but I loved it. Got in 8 runs total that day. Times in my class were from 48.032 sec (Lancer) to 53.290 (another Lancer). There were 10 competing in my class….I came in 8th :( with a 51.294 but it was a great improvement within the day. My worst time of the day was 56.908.

I was again in novice class also, just because this was my second event. I feel a lot more comfortable though with how to handle my car, and how the whole autox scene goes down. In novice class I came in 3rd out of 6 racers total. Not too bad I’d say, but not good enough. The two cars that were faster than me were an STI and GTI.

So this Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, is 8 Rod Ruckus at the Augusta Civic Center. First car sets off at 10am. I’ll be there of course. Probably the last event I’ll run this year, until next of course.

Auto-X: Day at the Dealership

All lined upEvent went well today. My best time was a 51.2x. My first run was 54.x, and every run after that, was a second or two worse, but leaned towards getting better each run. Last run was my best.

Pics can be found here (none of me in action though): Day at the Dealership

Auto-X (solo II) this past Sunday

June 23rd, 2005 by Ray in Auto Events | Tags: , , | Comments Off

weeeeSo, I’m surprised I didn’t write an article or anything about this past Sunday. Went to my first auto-x race. Yeah, it was just as fun as I thought it would be…a LOT of fun! My car is currently stock, so that thew me in the HS class. Once I start buying more things for my car though, its def going to throw me into a higher class…that’s ok though, Im not really there to compete for money or glory, just to have fun…of course winning is the ‘goal’ and I have already picked a person I want to beat.

The course was fairly simple, and aside from my truely bad mess ups on the course, I think I did well for a first timer…and first time even being to an event. After talking with a few people, and reading up on tips and what not, I am going into the next event with a plan :)

There’s also a TSD Rally coming up that I am going to participate in…this too will be my first time ever TSD. Wish me luck, and here are some pics of me at the auto-x event…videos soon to come.
