The rally is over…and damn was it a good time. The day started out with the parc expose in downtown Berlin, NH. First stage was partially tarmac and I was able to snap shots from the first (technically second) spectator corner at the start of the stage. Nothing dramatic or exciting really happened
Second stage of the day was the Middle Dam stage and was run four times (2xs up, 2xs down) and consisted of 100% logging trails. The best spectator spot here was about 1.4mi into the course on a nice bend. This is where I ended up snapping most of my shots (dusty).
They were offering bus rides into the spectator area but walking by foot sufficed. After the second run of the stage the rally master said that there would be bus transport back to the start of the stage. Seeing how the bus only holds ~20-30 people max, a group of us–~15 people–decided to take matters into our own hands and walk back before the third run of the stage started.
We all made it about half way back and we got a nice surprise–the stage was opening @_@. We got yelled at and were told we could not continue to walk back to the start of the stage. It just so happened that we were all on a nice bend of the stage and were told to stay there until runs 3 and 4 were run. What better way to get great pictures than to be right there on a bend where the cars are coming at you at about 45-50mph.
Pictures were taken with the highest settings my Fujifilm camera would let me take. There are somewhere around 180 pictures to whet your appetite.
Pictures can be found in the New England Forest Rally 2007 gallery.
Enjoy

Ended up making it there for day 3. Wanted to see both stages but the first stage of the day was cut short for spectators. This is because part of the public road was shutdown for the rally, but the town wanted to open it back up early – the town won that battle! However, that stage continued on but the finish line was pushed up 1/16(ish) of a mile where spectators were not allowed to go…bah!
Stage 2 took place in Errol, NH. Part of the stage was rerouted due to keep landowners happy. This did not make a difference on spectator’s view though. This stage was run up and then down, most of the pictures I grabbed are from the start line. I missed about 5 cars as my card in my camera could not hold all the pictures – I was periodically copying the pictures to my laptop to free up space.
Without further ado, here they are: http://gallery.white-box.us/main.php?g2_itemId=375

IT’S BAACK!! The Maine Forest Rally is happening July 20 – 22nd, 2006! I am going to be there, prepared and ready to take more pictures than before. Not only that, more people are tagging along with me, and they have cameras as well…more pics for all
The Auto X season has started back up as well. I will not be participating until I grab myself another set of tires. I can not afford to run on my street tires anymore (yeah, it wasn’t smart to do the first season anyways). I’m also looking forward to grabbing the SVT-style suspension kit, which will probably throw me into a higher category (beh) but I have not read this year’s SCCA rule book (yet). I really do not want to go into a higher class than STS at the moment…we will see.

Yup…the results have been for out for a bit now, I just haven’t had the time to post them up. So I don’t remember what my # was on my car…(I’m not a club member so I don’t have my own number). I either was 108 or 406…so that means I either came in 5th or 6th place out of 8 in the STS class. Overall that means I was in either 26th or 38th out of 59 entries. Damnit I wish I knew my number. I *think* I was 108, but I am not sure…results can be found here.

They can be found here. And for those of you who care, it was a good time. Besides getting lost 4 or 5 times…but it was fun. The fun really started when Dustin and I got stuck behind a ~450HP STi (the guy that owns it either said 430HP or 450HP, I don’t exactly remember). His car flew, that’s all I know. Good times.
This past weekened was also THE most WRXs I have EVER seen in a single day or two. Crazy.
Try not to be hard on the pics, they were taken with my little FujiFilm 3.2MP camera. It does pretty good, and I always keep the resolution setting to as high as it will go. I also uploaded them in that resolution but changed the default view to be more 56K friendly.

Event went well today. My best time was a 51.2x. My first run was 54.x, and every run after that, was a second or two worse, but leaned towards getting better each run. Last run was my best.

So, I’m surprised I didn’t write an article or anything about this past Sunday. Went to my first auto-x race. Yeah, it was just as fun as I thought it would be…a LOT of fun! My car is currently stock, so that thew me in the HS class. Once I start buying more things for my car though, its def going to throw me into a higher class…that’s ok though, Im not really there to compete for money or glory, just to have fun…of course winning is the ‘goal’ and I have already picked a person I want to beat.
The course was fairly simple, and aside from my truely bad mess ups on the course, I think I did well for a first timer…and first time even being to an event. After talking with a few people, and reading up on tips and what not, I am going into the next event with a plan
There’s also a TSD Rally coming up that I am going to participate in…this too will be my first time ever TSD. Wish me luck, and here are some pics of me at the auto-x event…videos soon to come.
